Starting the New Year strong with a vision and goals

Let’s start 2026 with INTENTION – my word for this year!

Intentions are guiding principles and an internal ‘Yes’: Who I am. How I want to be seen by others. What I want to achieve. The ‘Why’ behind the ‘What’.

  • Conscious Choices: Being aware of our feelings and thoughts, and the impact our behavior has on outcomes.
  • Purpose-Driven: Being guided by what truly matters to us: our values, beliefs and aspiring vision and goals.
  • Alignment: Striving to behave with consistency and authenticity.
  • Mindfulness with my Framework: Pause, breathe, analyze and then respond with the energy level that enables us to achieve desired outcome.

Acting with intention empowers us to take control, overcome limiting beliefs and obstacles, live a more meaningful life, and be happier. Focusing our energy on opportunities and decisions that create the life we want – even when it’s challenging.

What are your intentions for 2026? Success, Happiness, Well-Being?

‘Begin with the End in Mind’ – as outlined in the book The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen R. Covey. This habit emphasizes the importance of having a clear vision and goals. By defining our values and objectives, we can make purposeful decisions that align with our long-term vision. Covey highlights the concept of a “mental creation” followed by a “physical creation.” Essentially, visualizing the end result helps us create a roadmap for success, guiding our actions and helping us prioritize our roles and responsibilities effectively.

When we start with a clear vision, our daily activities will align with our broader purpose. It’s about making intentional choices that focus on what truly matters, which leads to greater fulfillment and success in both personal and professional areas.

 

Shifting our perspective and behaviors isn’t always easy, but it’s possible with the right approach: Creating an aspiring vision and setting SMART goals will boost your chances of success. Here are a few tips to help you get started on your 2026 journey:

  • Assess your satisfaction in various areas of life.
  • Visualize what your life will look like at the end of 2026 or further.
  • Set SMART goals to guide your progress. Break your goals into smaller milestones to be able to track your progress and celebrate small wins.
