“Most Americans do not know what their strengths are. When you ask them, they look at you with a blank stare or they respond in terms of subject knowledge, which is the wrong answer.” Peter Drucker
Empowering High Potential Women at Amex Global Business Travel
Recently, I had the privilege of leading a dynamic workshop titled ‘Leading with Strengths and Values’ for a group of high potential women. It was inspiring to witness these driven women engage deeply with their CliftonStrengths reports, gaining valuable insights into their strengths, blind spots, and strategies for optimizing their lesser strengths to enhance their success.
Collectively, the group possessed an impressive 28 out of 34 strengths, highlighting their diverse skill sets and capabilities. We delved into various aspects of strengths including identifying top strengths, recognizing strengths that energize them, understanding those that may pose challenges in team dynamics, and exploring effective collaboration strategies. The workshop also focused on how these women can leverage their strengths to foster a high-performing team environment.
It was a transformative experience as we discussed how each individual can contribute uniquely to the team’s success and what support they need from each other to unlock their full potential.
Did you know?
Gallup has studied the nature of human talents and strengths for more than 50 years and over 20 million people have taken the assessment. Below are three things they have discovered.
- People who know and use their strengths are six times more likely to be engaged at work.
- People who use their strengths every day are six times more productive.
- People who know and use their strengths are three times as likely to report having an excellent quality of life.
The CliftonStrengths* assessment helps you discover what you naturally do best based on your strengths. You’ll get an understanding on how leadership domains (executing, influencing, relationship building or strategic thinking) contribute to your success, how they could get in your way, and how to apply them. You’ll be able to use the results to thrive at work, maximize your potential and ultimately be a more successful leader.
